I had the amazing opportunity to sit down with Cherisse, host of the Rhythms That Restore podcast, for a conversation that was both reflective and empowering. In this episode, I share my journey from nursing student to full-time entrepreneur and CEO of My Sassy Stickers.
In case you missed it, I’m breaking down some key highlights from the episode and giving you a peek into what we discussed—and why this conversation was so meaningful to me!
From Family Legacy to Personal Branding: How It All Started
I grew up in Gulf Breeze, Florida, with a front-row seat to my mom Emily Sims’ entrepreneurial journey. Watching her build her own business planted seeds of creativity and drive in me at an early age.
My first taste of entrepreneurship came in middle school, when I started a small business making and selling paper mache letters—proof that I’ve always loved blending creativity with commerce!
Fast forward a few years, and I found myself at Samford University, pursuing a career in nursing. However, like so many of us, the pandemic threw a wrench in my plans.
While at home during lockdown, I decided to pivot, combining my love for business and branding with the desire to help others create meaningful experiences. That’s when My Sassy Stickers was born—and to my surprise, it gained traction immediately!
Navigating Life’s Unexpected Turns
On the podcast, Cherisse and I talked a lot about the challenges of change. From leaving nursing school to dive headfirst into my business to moving across the country, transitions have been a constant theme in my life.
But these experiences have taught me the value of resilience, faith, and community. It hasn’t always been easy, but the support of family, friends, and my faith has been the foundation that keeps me grounded through every shift.
The Power of Intentional Branding
During our chat, Cherisse highlighted how Sassy Stickers has become more than just a sticker company—it’s a way for women to connect with their customers through thoughtful packaging. Whether it’s through postcards, gift enclosures, or branding touches, I believe packaging plays a key role in creating memorable customer experiences. It’s not just about selling a product—it’s about leaving a lasting impression.
This idea—of creating experiences that people remember—became a central theme of the episode. In everything we do, we leave a mark. The question Cherisse and I asked ourselves is: What will YOU be known for?
Building Connections and Community
Another favorite part of our conversation was discussing the importance of connection. Whether through faith, friendships, or small business communities, I’ve found that meaningful relationships are everything. Moving from Florida to San Diego, I had to learn the importance of seeking out new friendships and building a support system. Intentional relationships—whether in business or life—are key to thriving.
Wrapping It All Up: My Message to You
This podcast episode was a special one for me, and I hope you’ll take some time to listen to the full conversation. It’s a deep dive into entrepreneurship, personal growth, faith, and the importance of creating meaningful experiences in life and business.
If you’re someone who’s thinking about starting a business, pivoting careers, or looking to build stronger connections, this episode has something for you. Cherisse and I had a blast reflecting on our journeys, and I hope you’ll walk away inspired to create experiences that truly matter.
